Apply sunscreen at least 15-30 minutes before going outdoors to allow it to be absorbed by the skin. Apply a generous amount of sunscreen to cover all exposed skin. Most adults need about one ounce (30 ml) of sunscreen for adequate coverage. Don't forget easily overlooked areas such as ears, neck, the back of your hands, and the tops of your feet. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more often if you are swimming or sweating heavily. Even water-resistant sunscreens lose their effectiveness over time. If you've been swimming or sweating, reapply sunscreen immediately after drying off to maintain protection.
